Framed three-quarter length portrait of Dr. Ephraim MacDowel Cosgrave (1853-1925), standing, wearing the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland President's robe and insignia of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Oil on canvas. By Michael Dignam, signed and dated 1916. Nameplate below frame reads: "E. MACDOWEL COSGRAVE, M.D./PRESIDENT 1914-1916./BEQUEATHED TO THE COLLEGE BY/DR. COSGRAVE".

Dissecting microscope designed by Dr Charles Barnes and made by Bausch & Lomb, as engraved. It has a wooden stand with a detachable mirror and an adjustable lens arm. The hinged base holds an incomplete set of magnifier lenses—only one remains. The stage glass is missing. Marked inside with "Macdowel Cosgrave".

Photographic Society of Ireland medal for lantern slides, awarded to E.M. Cosgrave in 1898. Obverse: the arms of the four provinces of Ireland surrounded by the text "Photographic Society of Ireland". Reverse: the text "Lantern Slides/E.M. Cosgrave/1898" surrounded by a laurel wreath.

Eight wooden and cardboard boxes containing microscope slides, used by Ephraim MacDowel Cosgrave [as Professor of Biology in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland]. Some of the slides were made by Cosgrave, where as others have been ordered from suppliers as [teaching materials].
